This week we have a slang phrase for you to listen out for while you’re at the beach.
A shark biscuit can mean a cheap surfboard made of foam, a bodyboard and/or its rider or even just a person who is new to surfing.
We reckon surfers have a pretty good grasp of Aussie Slang. They have contributed dozens of phrases to Australian English. Some of their most recognisable terms include boomer (our Word of the Week recently) and the 1980s classic, cowabunga, an exclamation used variously to express excitement, exhilaration, joy, encouragement.
Each week, we have a look at a slang word from Australian English. You can see other Aussie Word of the Week posts from the Macquarie Dictionary here.
