checkside kick

a banana kick in Aussie Rules: Victorian commentators always say banana kick but SA ones say checkside kick.

Contributor's comments: I believe the checkside kick was invented at the Sturt Football Club, probably somewhere in the 1960s, and was initially laughed at by the Victorians, as is common with anything invented elsewhere than Victoria.

Contributor's comments: A kick for goal in Aussie rules that bends away from you when kicked: "He's going to do a checkside"

Contributor's comments: Hmm I always thought it was a "checkside punt".
