Contributor's comments: In 1986 I was with a tour group of mostly Australians in Europe when we began to discuss slang for giving someone a ride on a bicycle. I can't remember what theirs were but when I said barie it brought the house down with derison. The Sydney Melbourne people had never heard that and used barie as a slang for an erect penis.
