wild looking, or wild in behaviour, uncouth: If you came in all dirty from playing out in the bush, shouting and carrying on, your grandmother or mother would tell you looked like "the wild man of Bungaree". Bungaree is a town outside Ballarat, Victoria, supposedly known for its wild or primitive standards of behaviour and appearance. Probably terribly unfair but there you go.
