an abbreviation of "physical culture", an after-school past-time very popular on the South Coast of NSW. Always, always referred to by its diminutive: At physsie today they taught us how to do the splits.
Contributor's comments: Certainly common in Sydney in the 1970's, when I remember my mother taking part in organised physsie competitions. It consisted of synchronised marching, stretching etc, in retrospect disturbingly like the Bund Deutscher Mädel.
