Contributor's comments: When I was growing up (in Ballarat, Vic) 'scunge' was used to mean beg or borrow as well as beggar or borrower. As in: Can I scunge twenty cents off you to buy a drink?' and 'Gloria is a real scunge, she's always borrowing my lipstick'.
Contributor's comments: When growing up on the NSW mid-north coast we also used a form of this term 'scungie' to refer to someone who was tight fisted with their goods or possessions.

Contributor's comments: In Melbourne scunge can be used as in 'scunge money off people'. A scungy type person would do that. But scungy can also mean dirty and decrepit e.g. for clothes.
