bardi grub

bardi grub was the pupa of a moth and was about 60-90mm long and the one I am referring to was found under gum trees and was located by shovelling-chipping the top soil and locating the grubs hole the by using a bullrush straw, that had been chewed on the end. This was lowered down the hole to 'annoy' the grub who then had a bite and subsequently attached itself and was raised from hole and placed in a cigarette packet that was subsequently placed in the bottom of 'mum's refrigerator' till taken fishing for Murray Cod. This experience was in the Wangaratta Victoria 25-30 years ago. The "bardi grub" from the tree to my knowledge was the true 'Witgetty Grub" (?)
