year 10 student. I think this may be unique to my school - Yr 10 (the old fourth form) is the lowest year in senior school: 'suchandsuch needs to be done' - 'get a fourthie to do it'
Contributor's comments: At the Australian Defence Force Academy in Canberra in the late 1980s, "fourthie" universally described a first-year (ie. junior) officer cadet. This apparently paradoxical meaning had been brought to ADFA by army cadets from the adjacent Royal Military College Duntroon, where First Class had been the senior class, and Fourth Class the most junior.
